During Nordbygg 2024, the transport vehicles of the new era will gather in a dedicated car showroom. This new initiative will showcase the growing market for electric-powered transport vehicles and how other sectors of the industry are affected as the vehicle fleet evolves.

As the construction industry seeks to reduce its emissions, the demand for electric cars has increased. Innovations in the emissions-heavy transportation sector of the construction industry have caught the interest of many Nordbygg visitors.
– Manufacturers of electric vehicles have, of course, noticed the increased demand and have chosen to exhibit at Nordbygg to promote their products. We want to meet this interest, which is why we are investing in a dedicated car showroom for vehicles in 2024,” says Liv Ljungqvist, operational project manager for Nordbygg.
Significant advances in transportation development
RN Nordic, the Swedish importer for Renault Group’s brands Renault, Dacia, and Alpine, is one of the exhibitors.
– Renault has launched many new models for fossil-free driving, and we want to showcase that. Nordbygg is an important place to be seen,” says their press spokesperson, Karin Lyrborn.
Since 2020, the sales of electric transport vehicles have more than doubled. In 2022, electric vehicles accounted for nearly 15 percent of the total market sales. There are no signs that this trend will be broken in 2023, and Karin Lyrborn understands why:
– We are constantly pushing technology forward. In our own transport vehicle, the Kangoo E-tech Electric, which will be displayed at the salon, we have, for example, increased the range by 25 percent while reducing the charging time. Even in our largest model, the Master, we have developed a new battery that increases the range by 60 percent. We have strong faith in renewable electricity and are pleased to see the transition to fossil-free driving increasing.
The impact on all sectors
At Nordbygg 2024, visitors will also see how other parts of the transport industry are affected as the vehicle fleet changes. The company Work System offers equipment and installation for service vehicles. They are one of the exhibitors present to show how they are adapting to a new future with reduced climate impact at the center.
– We have two major focus areas. One is the climate. For example, we use only recycled plastic in our modules and have a 6000-square-meter solar cell installation at our headquarters. The other focus area is driver safety. When installing equipment in electric transport vehicles, we cannot drill and screw modules in the same way as in a gasoline-powered vehicle, increasing the risk of hitting cables significantly. Therefore, we glue all modules in place. We want the industry to know that this solution is neither more expensive nor produces worse results in our crash tests. On the contrary, it increases driver safety,” says Andrés De La Fuente, Key Account Manager at Work System.
– As the need for electric cars grows, it also puts pressure on stable and sustainable electricity supply. A more sustainable construction and real estate industry is a priority for us at Nordbygg. We hope that the car show will be an excellent addition to our new solar and electrification scene, where visitors will be able to experience exciting new technology,” concludes Liv Ljungqvist.
Nordbygg 2024 will open its doors from April 23 to April 26 at Stockholmsmässan.
