Sustainable Development Goals

How we work with three selected sustainability goals

For several years, Nordbygg has presented a number of activities focused on sustainability. Common to all is that they are driven long-term and sustainably. They all support one of the three global goals that we consider most relevant to our industry.

About the SDGs The SDGs are an ambitious agenda for sustainable development, aiming to end extreme poverty, reduce inequalities, promote peace and justice, and solve the climate crisis – all by 2030. Read more about the SDGs here →

Goal 5 - Gender Equality

How we work for gender equality at Nordbygg

The construction sector remains male-dominated — but change is possible. At Nordbygg, we highlight gender equality in our programme and provide space for conversations and initiatives that make a difference. Campaigns like Stop the Macho Culture and Filter Your Words have been featured in recent years.

The share of female visitors is steadily increasing and is now above the industry average — a development we’re proud of. A particularly appreciated event is Nordbygg’s women’s networking gathering, which brings together around 150 women from the construction sector for inspiration, community and networking.

Goals Moving Forward

• Increase the percentage of female visitors even further compared to previous years
• Ensure gender-balanced panels and programme content
• Continue highlighting women’s contributions to the industry – for example through the Woman Builder of the Year award, presented by Byggföretagen during Nordbygg by Night, and by continuing to support Nordbygg’s women’s network.

Goal 7 - Sustainable energy for all

“Access to sustainable, reliable and renewable energy and clean fuels is a prerequisite for meeting many of the challenges facing the world today, such as poverty, climate change and inclusive growth. ” (Source: globalamalen.se)

Our Work with Sustainable Energy Solutions at Nordbygg
Sustainable energy is a key issue for the future — and at Nordbygg, we aim to be a driving force in the transition. Together with industry stakeholders, we highlight energy efficiency, renovation, and smart technologies that contribute to a more sustainable society.

We bring together leading experts and offer an extensive programme designed to inspire innovation and change. One example is the stage programme at the Fastighetsenergi Arena in Hall A, where future solutions are presented and discussed. For the 2024 edition, we also introduced a brand-new theme area: solar energy – a crucial piece of the puzzle in building a sustainable energy system.

Global goals - Affordable and clean energy
Global goals - Sustainable cities and communities

Goal 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities

“Sustainable urban development includes sustainable construction and planning of housing, infrastructure, public spaces, transportation, recycling and safer management of chemicals, which in turn requires new technologies and multi-sectoral cooperation.” (Source: globalamalen.se)

How we work for sustainable cities and communities at Nordbygg
In Nordbygg’s program, on all stages and in all contexts, the issue of sustainability is promoted. Here we highlight, for example, environmental regulations and processes that affect construction companies, consultants, product and material suppliers. We spotlight circular processes, climate-smart solutions, energy efficiency, and good initiatives.
