How we work with three selected sustainability goals

For several years, Nordbygg has presented a number of activities focused on sustainability. Common to all is that they are driven long-term and sustainably. They all support one of the three global goals that we consider most relevant to our industry.

About the Global Goals
The Global Goals are an ambitious agenda for sustainable development, aiming to eradicate extreme poverty, reduce inequalities, promote peace and justice, and solve the climate crisis – all by 2030. Read more about the 17 global goals here.
Global goals - gender equalitys

Goal 5 - Gender Equality

How we work for gender equality at Nordbygg
The construction industry is a very male-dominated industry. it is a major challenge to recruit and retain female employees. We have taken initiatives to give gender equality space and attention in Nordbygg’s program. For example, the initiatives “Stop Macho Culture” and “Filter the Talk” are highlighted.

We can note that the proportion of female visitors at Nordbygg has grown over time and is higher than generally in the construction industry. For Nordbygg 2024, the successful Nordbygg Women’s Network Meeting returns, gathering nearly 150 women in construction to inspire and strengthen networks.

Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy

Så här arbetar vi för hållbara energilösningar på Nordbygg
Tillsammans med branschens aktörer sätter vi stort fokus på energieffektivisering, renovering och smart teknik. We gather a number of experts and put together an extensive program to inspire sustainable energy solutions. See, for example, the program at Arena Fastighetsenergi in Hall A. In 2024, we are also launching a new theme area at Nordbygg – solar energy An important piece of the puzzle in a sustainable energy system.

Goal 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities

Sustainable urban development includes sustainable construction and planning of housing, infrastructure, public spaces, transport, recycling, and safer chemical management, which in turn requires new technology and cooperation between several sectors.” (Source: globalgoals.org)

How we work for sustainable cities and communities at Nordbygg
In Nordbygg’s program, on all stages and in all contexts, the issue of sustainability is promoted. Here we highlight, for example, environmental regulations and processes that affect construction companies, consultants, product and material suppliers. We spotlight circular processes, climate-smart solutions, energy efficiency, and good initiatives.

Our sustainability work

Sustainability is about considering both current and future generations’ needs and taking long-term responsibility in our daily operations. Stockholmsmässan’s sustainability work is conducted based on three focus areas: Sustainable Community, Sustainable Environment, and Sustainable Innovation.
