Oskar Olsson, Head of Husqvarna Construction Sweden, you will return to Nordbygg in 2026. What is the most current thing happening for you on the machine front?
– Common to the development work on all our machines is that we want to make our customers’ everyday lives easier and more efficient, and contribute to a better and safer workplace. The machines must eliminate the risks of occupational injuries, while we want to make workplaces more efficient with the help of smart technical solutions. We don’t just deliver machines, we help drive the industry forward!
What are your views on developments in health and safety and technology?
– There is definitely a shift underway. The development of battery-powered machines is part of it, but we are also seeing a much greater focus on health and safety issues related to dust management and ergonomics, two core areas that we are investing heavily in.
What news will you showcase at Nordbygg?
– We have recently launched a new generation of dust collectors and air cleaners that increase efficiency and contribute to an even better working environment by reducing silica dust exposure. We are also showing new developments in our PACE and BLi battery systems, a new blasting machine and our latest innovation in floor grinding – our self-propelled floor grinder “Autogrinder”.
Are you working on something more than just products?
– Absolutely! We are constantly expanding our service offering, including training for safer working practices and silica dust management, which is an important part of strengthening skills and reducing risks in the industry in the long term.
What trends do you see ahead?
– The shift to battery power is happening fast, and battery-powered machines are becoming standard. This obviously reduces emissions and noise, which is good for both the environment and the people on site. It also has positive effects from a sustainability perspective, as these machines do not require as much service and maintenance as, for example, gasoline-powered products. Battery operation also enables technical solutions such as our X-Halt function, which automatically stops the blade if the machine moves towards the user. This is a safety measure that is not possible in traditional gasoline-powered machines.
What are you looking forward to at Nordbygg?
– “I really enjoy meeting the industry, and I’m especially happy when I get to meet happy end users, as it’s their work environment that we work to improve every day,” concludes Oskar Olsson.
