The City of Stockholm has decided to retain ownership of Stockholmsmässan. As a result, Nordbygg will continue to be held in Älvsjö until at least 2034 – news that has been warmly welcomed by stakeholders across the construction and real estate sectors.
Given the current market conditions, it has proven difficult to find a buyer who meets the city’s requirements. The sale process has therefore been discontinued, and the city will continue to manage and develop the venue. It has also confirmed that the exhibition will remain at its current location in Älvsjö, south of Stockholm, for at least another decade.
“This means, in other words, at least five more editions of Nordbygg at the same location – at a minimum! We will continue to focus on developing Nordbygg, which is Northern Europe’s leading meeting place for the construction and real estate sectors,” says Lina Hann, Project Manager for Nordbygg.
She notes that the response from Nordbygg’s organising group – consisting of the Building Materials Industries, the Energy and Environmental Technology Association, the Glass Industry Association, Installation Companies, Swedish Ventilation, and HVAC Manufacturers – has been overwhelmingly positive.
Long-Term Stability
“Long-term stability and peace of mind are crucial in an uncertain economic climate. We’re very pleased that the City of Stockholm will continue to run Stockholmsmässan at the same location through 2034. Nordbygg plays a vital role for the construction sector – there is no other event of this scale that brings together every part of the industry,” says Britta Permats, CEO of Swedish Ventilation.
An Invaluable Meeting Place
Both the Building Materials Industries and HVAC Manufacturers – which represent large exhibitor groups – also express strong support for the decision to keep Nordbygg at its current venue for the long term.
“Nordbygg is an invaluable meeting place – fantastic for networking and knowledge exchange. Continuity is especially important in areas that matter deeply to us, such as digitalisation and sustainability. The fair provides an opportunity to showcase smart solutions, drive progress, and share expertise,” says Jonny Hellman, CEO of HVAC Manufacturers.
Serving the Public Good
Jenny Svärd, CEO of the Building Materials Industries, also highlights Nordbygg’s value as a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing within the sector. She underscores the event’s contribution to society at large:
“The uncertain global situation is putting greater focus on issues such as preparedness and enhanced collaboration across the sector. In this context, Nordbygg serves as a key platform to support efforts aimed at developing and strengthening the sector’s transition in a time of uncertainty,” says Jenny Svärd.
