Gold Medal awarded to Saint-Gobain Sweden AB, Gyproc

The Nordbygg Gold Medal for the most innovative product launch of 2026 was awarded to Saint-Gobain Sweden AB, Gyproc, for Gyproc Hybridregel – a foldable stud made of timber and steel for internal wall constructions.

– Anyone working in product development knows how long these processes can be. We have long believed we were on the right track, and this is proof and confirmation of that, said Thomas Viktorsson, Category Manager at Gyproc, who received the medal.

The Nordbygg Gold Medal is awarded based on criteria including level of innovation, sustainability and market potential. The award is presented annually by Nordbygg and Svensk Byggtjänst.

Glass Award 2026 to Habitat 7

Habitat 7, a newly built office building at Masthuggskajen in Gothenburg, was awarded the Glass Award 2026. The winning project was presented by jury chair Mats Lindström (WSP) and Melinda Lemke, Project Manager at the Swedish Glass Industry Association. The project received the award for its high ambitions in terms of working environment, vibrant urban development, well-considered spatial qualities and innovative use of glass.

Jan Lindholm and Erik Stening (Fasadglas and bARK), Anders Pettersson (architect, Krook & Tjäder), and Dennis Berglund (NCC) accepted the award on stage. Oskar Storm (Saint-Gobain) received an honourable mention.

Glaspärlan 2026 to “A House in Abbekås”

The Glaspärlan Award aims to recognise smaller glass projects or highlight a strong detail or solution, and is also presented by the Swedish Glass Industry Association. This year’s award went to the project “A House in Abbekås” – a villa in Skåne designed by architect Karl Dinell, who is also the client together with Lotta Forste. Jesper van der Putten and Charlie Bergendal (Scandifront), along with Morten Johansson and Måns Elmlund (Dinell/Johansson), received the award.

Sheet Metal Influencer of the Year

Jonathan Lundin of Jäla Plåtslageri, who runs Sweden’s largest Instagram account within sheet metal work, was named Sheet Metal Influencer of the Year. He is described as a true inspiration and enthusiast within the trade.
The award is presented by the industry organisation Svensk Byggplåt and its owners, the employers’ organisation Plåt & Ventföretagen. It was established to address the skills shortage in the industry and to highlight young role models.

Anders Hvarfner (CEO) and Tomas Skagerlind (Head of Communications) from Plåt & Ventföretagen, together with last year’s winner Emelie Persson (Perssons plåtslageri), presented the award to Jonathan Lundin, along with a diploma made from recycled zinc.

Indoor Climate Award

The Indoor Climate Award was presented to Swegon Group AB for the development of Swegon INSIDE Analytics and Swegon INSIDE Visualiser.

The jury described it as an innovative solution that combines AI-based analysis, prediction and clear visualisation with active user feedback in a cohesive workflow.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the award is given to companies or organisations within indoor climate, energy and HVAC that have developed a significant product, service or methodology with strong practical application potential.

The award is presented by Slussen Building Services, the Energy and Environmental Technology Association (EMTF), Svensk Ventilation and the Swedish Refrigeration Association, and was handed over by Anders Sjelvgren, Director General of the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning.

Scanvac Award

Professor Lars Ekberg, Professor of Indoor Climate Technology and Head of the Division of Building Services Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology, received the Scanvac Award – an honorary award presented to individuals, companies or organisations in the Nordic region for outstanding contributions to HVAC.

Scanvac is a Nordic organisation comprising technical associations across the Nordic countries. In Sweden, EMTF represents the organisation.
The award was presented by Jaana Petherbielke, CEO of EMTF, who highlighted Lars Ekberg as a leading figure in indoor climate technology, whose work has significantly contributed to knowledge and solutions that bridge science and practical application.

Female Builder of the Year

Carpenter and tiler Caroline Sundström of X-Treme i Luleå AB was named Female Builder of the Year 2026. The award aims to highlight female role models within the construction and civil engineering industry.

From the jury’s statement:
“The Female Builder of the Year 2026 is a role model whose professional journey exemplifies commitment, courage and long-term development within the construction industry. Through skill, drive and professionalism, she demonstrated early on that it is competence and dedication that build the industry – not gender.”

The award ceremony took place on 23 April during Nordbygg by Night.

– It’s incredible and great fun, but above all it is a great honour to be named Female Builder of the Year, said Caroline Sundström upon receiving the award.
