It has now been confirmed that Gyproc Hybridregel from Saint-Gobain Sweden AB, Gyproc, has won the Nordbygg Gold Medal 2026.

The Nordbygg Gold Medal for the most innovative product launch of 2026 has been awarded to Gyproc Hybridregel from Saint-Gobain Sweden AB, Gyproc. The prize was presented during a celebratory awards ceremony in the entrance hall of Stockholmsmässan on Thursday, 23 April 2026.
Saint-Gobain Sweden AB, Gyproc, receives the Nordbygg Gold Medal 2026 for Gyproc Hybridregel – a foldable stud made of timber and steel for internal wall constructions.
The jury recognised the product as an innovative, all-round solution with a number of strong qualities, highlighting in particular its improved environmental performance, ergonomics and practical buildability.
Clear sustainability benefits
The Nordbygg Gold Medal was first awarded in 2010 and is a collaboration between Nordbygg and Svensk Byggtjänst. The key criteria for the award are level of innovation, sustainability and market potential.
– The field of nominees was exceptionally strong, and the jury had many high-quality products to consider, which led to valuable discussions. I am pleased that we agreed to award the prize to Gyproc’s hybrid stud. It demonstrates clear sustainability benefits through its lower climate impact. Its foldable design also makes it easier to transport, which is another significant advantage, says Ingar Lindholm, Editor-in-Chief of Byggkoll at Svensk Byggtjänst.
A major recognition
Thomas Viktorsson, Category Manager at Gyproc, received the Gold Medal during Thursday’s traditional awards ceremony on the Nordbygg Live stage. He commented:
– Anyone working in product development knows how long these processes can be. We have long believed we were on the right track, and this is proof and confirmation of that. A platform for innovation
Each year, ten products are nominated, selected from new entries in Svensk Byggtjänst’s service Byggkatalogen. From these, the jury selects the winner.

The Gold Medal has become a valued and prestigious feature that highlights the industry’s strong drive for innovation and development, says Lina Hann.

The Nordbygg Gold Medal for the most innovative product launch of 2026 is awarded to Gyproc Hybridregel from Saint-Gobain Sweden AB, Gyproc – a foldable stud for internal wall constructions that combines improved environmental performance, ergonomics and practical buildability.
By combining steel with timber in a hybrid system, the product utilises the best properties of both materials. Steel provides strength and stability, while timber reduces environmental impact and delivers low CO₂ emissions according to the EPD. Acoustic and fire performance are equivalent to comparable systems using standard steel studs.
The jury’s impression is that the manufacturer has done its due diligence, testing the product both in development environments and on construction sites.
The foldable design allows the product to be delivered in flat packs, saving both space and transport. A new fastening system also reduces installation time and improves ergonomics for installers.
Gyproc Hybridregel is awarded the Nordbygg Gold Medal as an innovative, comprehensive solution with a range of strong qualities.
The jury for the Nordbygg Gold Medal consists of Lina Hann (Nordbygg), Veronica Koutny Sochman (Byggmaterialindustrierna), Alexander Landborn (Nodon), Anna Göth (Byggkatalogen/Svensk Byggtjänst), and Ingar Lindholm (Byggkoll/Svensk Byggtjänst).
