The popular car showcase from previous Nordbygg returns to the eastern entrance of Stockholmsmässan. This time, KIA will be on site to present its all-new platform for electric transport vehicles, marking a major launch for the Swedish market.
The car showcase, first introduced at Nordbygg 2024, received an enthusiastic response from both exhibitors and visitors. It now returns as a well-established feature of Nordbygg 2026.
Interest is exceptionally high from both vehicle manufacturers and interior suppliers, and exhibition spaces are almost fully booked.
“We have expanded the area around the eastern entrance to create an even better visitor flow and ensure everyone gets to see the latest innovations,” says Liv Ljungqvist, Operational Project Manager at Nordbygg.
A global initiative
Among the confirmed exhibitors is KIA, which will unveil its brand-new platform for light electric commercial vehicles at Nordbygg 2026.
The platform, called PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle), represents a major global initiative for KIA, marking the company’s entry into the commercial vehicle sector. The PBV platform is fully dedicated to electric vehicles and developed from the ground up to meet the specific needs of transport and logistics.
“We have applied all our knowledge and experience from electrifying passenger cars to develop a new generation of electric transport vehicles. The platform is modular and easily adaptable to different business needs”, says Peter Grahn, Head of Sales for KIA’s new commercial vehicle division.
New Models on Display
The first model built on the PBV platform is called KIA PV5. The standard van configuration will be showcased at Nordbygg in April 2026, along with a chassis variant equipped with different modular extensions.
According to Peter, what sets this vehicle apart is that it has been designed from the start as a fully electric transport vehicle, not a converted version of a fossil-fuel model. He highlights the vehicle’s exceptionally spacious interior and low entry height as key advantages.
A fun fact: the KIA PV5 Cargo recently earned a Guinness World Record for being the electric commercial vehicle with the longest driving range on a single charge.
Nordbygg: The Perfect Match
Sweden is one of the leading markets in KIA’s launch of the PBV platform. The European rollout began in May, with the first vehicles being delivered in November 2025.
Nordbygg 2026 will be the first major trade fair where KIA showcases its new line of electric commercial vehicles.
“We chose Nordbygg because it is the largest and most important event for the construction industry, the perfect arena to reach our target audiences,” says Peter Grahn.
He adds that the products are designed for both small business owners and large fleet operators, and the team expects to meet representatives from both groups at the fair.
“The response has been overwhelmingly positive across all segments, especially among major fleet owners with clear sustainability goals. For many, electrifying their vehicle fleets is a key part of that transition”, Peter Grahn concludes.
